NEW YORK, July 16 (Reuters) - Sempra Energy's <SRE.N> 625-megawatt
Termoelectrica de Mexicali natural gas-fired power station in Mexico
returned to service by Wednesday afternoon, the California Independent
Electricity System Operator said in a report.
The unit shut by July 14 for planned and unplanned reasons.
The Termoelectrica de Mexicali combined-cycle station, which entered
service in 2003, is located near Mexicali in Baja California about 115
miles (185 kilometers) east of San Diego. It supplies the U.S. power
market.
One MW powers about 700 homes in California.
Sempra, of San Diego, owns and operates more than 3,000 MW of
generating capacity, markets energy and other commodities around the world,
and transmits and distributes electricity to almost 1.4 million customers
and natural gas to more than 6.4 million customers in California.
